Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani has expressed deep condolences on the passing away of former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Unar Ghali Na’abba, lamenting, Nigeria has indeed lost an extraordinary public intellectual, lawmaker and Statesman who lived a life of impact.
The governor, in a statement on Wednesday, said Rt. Hon. Na’abba was intellectually engaging, progressive, focused and fearless.
Uba Sani noted that Na’abba worked assiduously to advance the frontiers of constitutionalism, fundamental rights and freedoms, and democracy, adding, “he will be sorely missed.”
“On behalf of myself, my family and the people of Kaduna State, I wish to extend our heartfelt condolences to the Na’abba Family, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Hon. Tajudeen Yusuf, the government and people of Kano State and all Nigerians. We pray fervently for the repose of the gentle soul of Rt. Hon. Umar Ghali Na’abba.”
He described him as “a remarkable lawmaker and statesman who fought doggedly for the independence of the legislature and personified the politics of principles.
“Out of office, he took on the role of a public commentator calling attention to the wrong steps of public officials and warning of dire consequences if we fail to retrace our steps,” Kaduna governor recalled.
Uba Sani prayed to Almighty Allah give the Na’abba Family, the people of Kano State and all Nigerians the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
