APRI appeals to Enugu Gov for road rehabilitation

By Abbanobi -Eku Onyekachi, Abuja

The Accident Prevention and Rescue Initiative (APRI), a non-governmental organization focused on road traffic safety, has urged Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah to rehabilitate the Orba-Owerri-Ezeorba-UNN Road. In a press release, Ambassador Nnadi emphasized that good and accessible roads are essential for preventing road accidents, promoting economic development, and fostering peaceful coexistence.

Nnadi highlighted the significance of the road, which connects Orba, Owerri, Ezeorba, and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The road’s deplorable condition has hindered economic growth, social mobility, and access to education, posing risks to motorists, pedestrians, and students.

Noting Orba’s economic and social contributions to Enugu State, APRI appealed to Governor Mbah to prioritize the road’s rehabilitation. The organization stressed that the road’s poor condition has affected local businesses, trade, and economic development, limiting access to the University and affecting students, staff, and the community.

APRI humbly urged Governor Mbah to include the road’s rehabilitation in his administration’s development agenda, alleviating the suffering of road users and the university community.
