Political Appointment: Applicants in Imo consult  spiritualists, lobby political godfathers

From Everest Ezihe, Owerri

Barely two weeks Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State dissolved his executive council and sole administrators of the 27 Local Government Areas in the State as well as the Government Liaison Officers, heaven appear to have let loose among thousands of applicants wanting to be appointed or reappointed in the second phase of his administration.

The AUTHORITY investigations have shown that most of the applicants are desperate and have resorted to unorthox methods.

The investigations have revealed that over 90% of the former political appointees, even though they are complaining of not making money and “selfish” stringent economic measures of the Governor are in the forefront lobbying to be reappointed.

Also, over 2,000 applicants who were not part of the first tenure are equally lobbying to be part of the second missionary journey of Gov.  Uzodimma.

The applicants who are mostly politicians and technocrats, are not taking to any chance as they are employing both spiritual and native means to ensure they realize their ambitions.

Several “men and women of God” in the State as well as native doctors are smiling home with their bank accounts swelling in millions of Naira as they are daily being consulted for spiritual sacrifices.

One of the spiritualists in Ochi Ogwa in Mbaitoli LGA of the State told The AUTHORITY that more than 50 persons had consulted her in the past 10 days and she has done the necessary sacrifices, even as she is still praying for them.

People who are selling spiritual materials especially in Eke Onunwa  Market and by Cherubim Junction, Owerri, are smiling home due to fat sales figures.

One of the aides of the governor informed that the lobbying has become so intense, causing distractions to the Governor that prompted him for about a week now to relocate to Abuja and overseas.

The aide said most of these applicants are also lobbying the governor through his aides, relations, and securing recommendation letters from influential Nigerians with cows, cartons of exotic drinks, expensive perfumes, gold, diamond among other  expensive and exotic gift items.

The source further informed that closed relations of the the Deputy Governor are not excluded in the lobbying as they are making millions of Naira on daily basis from these desperate applicants.

Authority Newspaper investigations also revealed that political godfathers have witnessed their homes becoming Mecca or Jerusalem of sorts for the lobbyists.
