The Imo State Sports Commission has advanced programmes that would not just unearth the next generation of sports stars but also ensure that grassroots sports development is taken to all door steps in the State.
Prince Eleazar Ogbonna, the Commission’s Chairman disclosed this over the weekend while briefing Sports Journalists on the activities that would culminate into hosting State Sports Festival.
He said the aim was for talents hunt in all sports including, athletics, swimming, cycling, basketball, volleyball, handball, hockey, boxing, wrestling, taekwondo, karate, scrabble, badminton, cricket, abula, football, etc.
Prince Ogbonna further revealed his plans to ensure that the various Sports Associations in the State are on the same page with the mission and vision of the Commission towards reviving grassroots sports development, adding that they will soon be a seminar for the stakeholders.
“We have gotten an MoU to work with Sports Agencies in Europe to interchange and exchange tactical expertise and experiences for development.
“The Commission under my watch is determined to return sports back to the glorious days and create next generation of super stars that will continue to make Imo proud,” he said
