UniAbuja targets international students at Worldview Education Fair in Kenya

University of Abuja (UniAbuja) has expressed its readiness
to recruit international students, foster global partnerships and expand its global reach at this year’s Worldview Education Fair in Nairobi, Kenya.

Leader of UniAbuja’s delegation to the Worldview Education Fair, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Aisha Sani Maikudi, said the institution is opening new opportunities for international collaborations through its participation in the fair.

“We are thrilled to be at the forefront of this historic initiative to recruit international students and promote Nigeria as a leading study destination. By participating in the Worldview Education Fairs and spearheading the Study in Nigeria initiative, we are opening doors to new opportunities for global collaboration and academic excellence, ” she said.

Maikudi, who doubles as the Director of International Centre of the University, added that, “The University of Abuja’s ground breaking efforts to recruit international students and champion the Study in Nigeria initiative underscore its commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment. As the continues to forge ahead on its path of innovation and excellence, it remains dedicated to providing students with unparalleled educational experiences and preparing them for success in an increasingly interconnected world.”

The AUTHORITY reports that the UniAbuja’s delegation also included the director, Advancement Office, Dr Yusuf Lawal; deputy registrar, Academic Affairs, Mal Alkassim Umar; and Mr Ibrahim Kwaji of the University International Centre.

In addition to its participation in the Worldview Education Fairs, the university further spearheaded the “Study in Nigeria” initiative, which was conceived by the founder of Findadmission.com and CEO of Worldview International Group, Mr. Folabi Obembe.

As part of this initiative, Obembe pledged a generous sum of N1 million scholarship fund to support the recruitment of international students to the University of Abuja, while a crowdfunding scholarship fund that would see the institution alumni and international education community contribute to the scholarship fund would be launched soon.

The Study in Nigeria initiative aims to showcase the diverse academic offerings and cultural richness of Nigerian universities, encouraging students from across the continent and beyond to consider Nigeria as their study destination of choice.

Through strategic partnerships and collaborative efforts, the initiative seeks to elevate Nigeria’s profile in the global education landscape and attract top talent from around the world.

While stating that the fair gave opportunity to Nigerian institutions to showcase their strengths across Africa and beyond, Obembe emphasised the importance of embracing Nigeria’s unique qualities, including its status as the largest economy in Africa, its academic excellence, diverse cultural heritage, resilience, adaptability, and entrepreneurial spirit.
