Kogi gov, Ododo, urges enhanced collaboration with World Bank Group

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has called for enhanced collaboration with the World Bank Group to boost development projects across critical sectors of the state’s economy.

Governor Ododo made this appeal during a working visit to the new Country Director of the World Bank Group in Nigeria, Dr. Ndiame Diop, at the Bank’s office in Abuja on Monday.

According to a statement by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, Ododo reviewed all ongoing World Bank projects in Kogi State and requested expanded interventions in education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure to spur the state’s social and economic development.

Governor Ododo also emphasized the need for a programmatic approach to World Bank interventions, aligning them with the state’s 30-year Development Agenda focused on shared hope and prosperity. This, he said, would ensure better coordination of all projects and programs in Kogi State.

Dr. Ndiame Diop, the new World Bank Country Director, assured Governor Ododo of his commitment to deepening cooperation with the Kogi State government. He expressed eagerness to work with the Governor to expedite the implementation of ongoing World Bank projects and programs in the state.

Governor Ododo, accompanied by Chief of Staff Honourable Ali Bello, commissioners, and senior government officials, is the first state governor in Nigeria to engage in a high-level meeting with the World Bank under the new Country Director.
