He said: “I want to commend the Inspector General of Police and his officers for the professional manner in handling the #EndBadGovernance protests which have been taking place across the country.

“Their commitment to professionalism even in the face of threats associated with the protests is commendable and a reflection of their unwavering commitment to the safety of Nigerians and the protection of their fundamental rights.”

Senator Malam-Madori emphasized that there is a need for the police to continue to adhere to the ethics of civil engagement as the protests continue.

He called on all officers and men of the police force to ensure that they do everything within their power to maintain law and order, even as they respect the rights of protesters.

He said: “As the protests continue, it is important that the police remain professional in their conduct. It is crucial that the police continue to adhere to the highest standards of professionalism, while also respecting the rights of citizens to peacefully express their grievances.”

He assured the force that the Senate Committee on Police Affairs remained fully committed to supporting the police in their efforts to maintain law and order and protect the lives and property of Nigerians.

He also called on citizens to continue to exercise restraint and engage in peaceful protests, as well as urges them to work with the police to ensure that the ongoing protests do not degenerate into violence and chaos.

“As citizens, we have a responsibility to ensure that our protests are peaceful and conducted with civility. We call on all Nigerians to work with the police to ensure that protests are conducted in a peaceful manner, as together we work towards building a more prosperous and peaceful Nigeria”, Senator Malam-Madori said.
