Anambra LGA elections fixed for Sept 28

Anambra State Local Government Council elections has been fixed for September 28, 2024.

Genevieve Osakwe Esq. the State Chief Electoral Officer made announcement on Monday.

The statement dates August 12th, 2024 reads, “The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission wishes to inform all the Political Parties and the general public that the Local Government elections in the state will hold on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

“Election timetable/schedule of activities and other details can be collected from the Headquarters of Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission, Awka from Wednesday, 14th August, 2024.

Meanwhile, the development was graced with mixed reactions as some people are not comfortable with the date. They claimed that one month is not enough to prepare adequately for the LGA polls.

But the members of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGÀ) in the state are excited about the date.

Meanwhile, Anambra State governor, Prof Charles Soludo on Tuesday has a close door meeting with the Transition Committee (TC) Chairmen, party chairmen and APGA executives and stakeholders at Governor’s Lodge, Anawbia.

A source who pleaded for anonymity claimed that the emergency meeting was in connection with the LGA polls.
