Through its chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua, Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has felicitated with Retired General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida on his 83rd year celebration. Also felicitating with the former military head of state were Deputy Senate President (DSP) Barau I. Jubrin and the Senate Committee Chairman on Finance, Senator Musa Sani.

While these were contained in separate statements signed by the NSF chairman, and that of the Senate Committee on Finance, the one of DSP was contained in a press release from from his SA om Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir on Saturday.

Wishing him a happy birthday, Yar’adua had this to say: “Happy 83rd birthday to General Ibrahim Babangida, a true statesman and former Head of State of Nigeria! Your vision for a united and prosperous Nigeria led to the creation of 11 new states, promoting true federalism and development across the country.

“Your contributions to the growth of our nation are countless, from the development of the federal capital territory, Abuja, to the construction of the iconic Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, then the longest bridge in Africa. As we celebrate your life and legacy, we wish you long life, good health, and continued wisdom. May your birthday be filled with joy, love, and cherished moments with family and friends. Thank you for your tireless efforts in building a stronger, more united Nigeria. Congratulations, sir!”

However, hailing the former head of state, the DSP stated this: “He is one of our elder statesmen who played a significant role in fast-tracking the development of our beloved country. On the occasion of his 83rd birthday, I pray Allah SWT grants him good health and strength so that we can continue to draw from his wealth of knowledge, wisdom and experience.”

On his own, the Senate Committee Chairman on Finance said that the retired general’s strides with accomplishments over the years stand as a testament to the enduring impact of his leadership, adding: “May this milestone bring reflection on the journey that has shaped Nigeria and a celebration of a legacy marked by significant achievements and contributions to the nation.
