The Fubara Dagogo Campaign Organization has announced that the September 21 campaign flag-off date for the candidates of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) for the scheduled local government elections in Rivers State will no longer hold.
Reports from the organization say that the postponement arises from the tight schedules of the NNPP national leader and explained that he requested for a new date for the mega rally
NNPP leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, was earlier scheduled to stage a mega campaign rally for all the party’s chairmanship and councilorship candidates, including a rally planned at Bonny Women Hall in support of the party’s chairmanship candidate, Ambassador Fubara Dagogo, and his vice, Mrs. Kele Kabaka Brown.
Meanwhile, the NNPP chairmanship candidate for Bonny Local Government Area, Ambassador Fubara Dagogo, is set to unveil his campaign manifesto on Saturday.
The manifesto, themed Bonny Project Agenda, will outline Ambassador Dagogo’s covenant with the people, pledging full commitment to achieving his targets of elevating the local government area to the level it deserves.
Fubara, a top contender for the chairmanship seat of Bonny Local Government Area in the October 5 election, said on Friday in Abuja that the busy schedule of the NNPP’s national leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, was responsible for the postponement. He assured that the organizers would announce a new date next week for the campaign flag-off.
The former Director General of the APC State Assembly Forum (ASAF) disclosed that the NNPP leader requested a new date due to his packed schedule.
He noted that Kwankwaso and his team had recently visited victims of the Borno flood disaster and added that Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State, where the NNPP is a strong contender, also contributed to the postponement of the flag-off.
“We are still moving forward. Our leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, had a tight schedule this week and, therefore, requested a new date for next week.
“Recall that he just visited the victims of the Borno flood disaster, among other public engagements, which is why we agreed that a new date will be set for the mega NNPP rally in Rivers State.
“Bonny is already abuzz and ready to welcome our leader ahead of the election. We are strongly positioned, and our unit -to-unit campaign has intensified, giving us hope for victory at the polls.
“As part of our vision for a new Bonny, we will unveil our Bonny Project Agenda on Saturday. This will give our beloved people detailed insight into our plans to move the local government area to its rightful place. Bonny has no reason to lag behind other LGAs in Rivers State. We are ready for the great task ahead and assure our teeming supporters that they will place Bonny in safe hands when we emerge victorious on October 5,” Fubara assured.
