President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted a supplementary budget proposal to the House of Representatives for the 2024 statutory appropriation of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).

The supplementary budget proposal outlines additional funding requirements for the FCTA, based on reviewed revenue and expenditure forecasts. It aligns with the federal government’s fiscal and developmental policies, as well as the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The FCTA’s priorities remain unchanged, with a focus on improving human capital and infrastructure within the Federal Capital Territory. This includes enhancing education, healthcare, and social services, as well as upgrading roads, transportation systems, and public facilities.

The proposed budget aims to address critical infrastructure needs in the FCT, totaling ₦98.5 billion. This supplementary budget is crucial for the territory’s growth and development, and its passage will enable the FCTA to execute essential projects.

President Tinubu has expressed confidence in the House of Representatives’ expeditious consideration and approval of the proposal. He trusts that the lawmakers will recognize the importance of this supplementary budget for the FCTA’s operations.

The submission of the supplementary budget proposal marks a significant step towards realizing the FCTA’s goals and enhancing the quality of life for residents. The House of Representatives is expected to review and approve the proposal promptly, ensuring the FCTA can implement its plans effectively. ‎

The House adjourned its proceedings to Wednesday in honour of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who passed away during the National Assembly’s recess.
