The Accident Prevention and Rescue Initiative (APRI) has commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for directing the issuance of Special Trade Licenses to auto spare parts dealers, mechanics, and motor vehicle-related service providers in FCT.
The Head of Legal Affairs of the group, Abadaki, said the move is aimed at enhancing the ongoing motor vehicle relocation efforts in the territory.
The Special Trade License law requires all auto spare parts dealers and mechanics operating in FCT to obtain the license, including those relocating to the Permanent site in Wassa District. This license will be a prerequisite for allocating space in the Mechanic village.
APRI however acknowledges the importance of mandatory Special Trade License issuance as part of the FCT Road Transport Regulations. This directive is expected to bring order and regulation to the motor vehicle relocation process, ensuring that all operators meet the necessary standards.
The Minister has also set up a committee to oversee the relocation process, which APRI commends. This committee will likely play a crucial role in ensuring a seamless transition for affected traders and service operators.
By implementing these measures, the FCT Administration demonstrates its commitment to improving the motor vehicle relocation process, enhancing safety, and promoting regulatory compliance in the territory.
