Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, paid a condolence visit on Thursday to the family of the late Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Nigeria’s 23rd Chief of Army Staff, who recently passed away on November 5 following a brief illness.
According to a statement from Dr. Matawalle’s Personal Assistant on Media, Ahmad Dan-Wudil, the Minister visited the Flag Staff House at Niger Barracks in Abuja, where he met with Mrs. Mariya Lagbaja and other family members to express his sympathies.
During his visit, Dr. Matawalle commended the legacy of Lieutenant General Lagbaja, describing him as a symbol of loyalty, courage, and integrity.
“Lieutenant General Lagbaja served Nigeria with unwavering dedication, and his commitment to our country’s peace and security will remain a guiding light to those following in his path,” he stated.
Appointed Chief of Army Staff in 2023, the late General Lagbaja was widely admired for his leadership in the Nigerian Army and his significant contributions to national security.
