From Cyriacus Nnaji, Lagos

Having made groundbreaking achievements in its bilateral co-operations, the Nigeria Slovenia-Chamber of commerce has ended the 2024 Business year, with admonition by the Director-General of the organization, Mr Uche Udungwor, urging members and the general public to leverage on the networking opportunities provided by the chamber.

Udungwor made the disclosure and appeal at an event organized by the chamber with the theme, ‘Nigeria-Slovenia Business Networking’ at TFC Place, Festac Town, Lagos on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

The event co-sponsored by Spirit Slovenia, the Public Agency for Investment, Entrepreneurship and Internalization, under the Ministry of Economy, Tourism and Sports, Republic of Slovenia, attracted industry and trade moguls in Nigeria with strong emphasis on business prospects in both countries

Odungwor stated that the networking is key for a better understanding of what the members are doing which if well utilised could ensure some business deals. “As part of the networking exercise today, some owners of business here present will have the opportunity to introduce their businesses to the forum, for a better understanding of what they do and possibly strike some business deals.”

Speaking on the 2024 Business Year, Udungwor said “With the relationship the chamber has with Spirit Slovenia, we usually end our business year on the 18th of November and most times before that date the chambers of commerce in other countries within this period to ramp up their business activities so that they can send in their reports on or before the 18th. So it is always marked with business such as business networking.

About a fortnight ago, during our October Breakfast Forum with the theme, “Slovenia, Your Business Partner,” I did inform us that we shall be having the last programme of the chamber to end the Business Year for 2024, which eventually turns out to be today. In the same forum, I also informed us that today’s programme will afford members the opportunity to have interactions amongst ourselves.”

For those who just joined the chamber for the first time, Udungwor informed them that the Nigerian/Slovenia Chamber of Commerce is a bilateral Chamber saddled with the responsibility of promoting bilateral economic interest between Nigeria and Slovenia.

He went ahead to reveal some of the objectives of the Nigeria-Slovenia Chamber of Commerce. “Part of the objects of the Organisation are, but not limited to the following, to be of Forum of representative of Nigeria and Slovenia Business Interests; to advance the development and improvement of trade, commerce, investment and development between the two countries; to create, promote and sustain broad exchange and interaction in commercial, industrial and other business fields; to be a rallying point in the formation and facilitation of business cooperation between investors of both counter.”

He spoke further, “It is also to promote exchange of ideas and advise members on opportunities, challenges and applicable legislative framework of both countries; to organize Trade Fairs, Exhibitions, Conferences, Seminars and other Fora of business engagements geared towards boosting the economic prosperity of both countries, and to confer, consult, maintain contacts and cooperate with persons (s), Organisations, institutions or bodies of persons established in Nigeria or Slovenia having objectives in whole or in part similar to those of the Chamber.

“Having enumerated the key activities of the Nigeria/Slovenia Chamber of Commerce (NSCC) I urge you all to leverage on the robust position of the Chamber to advance your individual businesses,” Udungwor stated.
