Towards this, certain individuals rise above the rest, embodying the spirit of service, leadership, and unwavering dedication to the common good of the people.
Many agreed that Ambassador (Dr.) Nana Aishatu Gambo is one of such extraordinary figures whose life’s work has become a testament to the transformative power of compassion and purpose-driven action to touch the lives of the people positively
Ambassador (Dr.) Nana Aishatu Gambo’s legacy is not just written in the accolades she has earned but in the countless lives she has transformed, proving that leadership rooted in empathy and vision can truly shape a brighter future.
With a strong background in diplomacy and advocacy, Dr. Nana has skillfully navigated complex political landscapes to champion the rights of women and children. Little wonder she was just recently recognised with an award at the United Nations General Assembly on September 20th, 2024, for her exceptional work in promoting gender equality and peace.
On the day of the award, history turned a page, and etched Ambassador (Dr.) Nana Aishatu Gambo’s name in its golden lore.

Ambassador Gambo’s advocacy for gender equality has been both strategic and heartfelt, and her ability to bridge cultural, political, and social divides has made her an influential voice on the global stage.
Suffice to say that with a heart that beats for humanity and a vision that transcends barriers, Amb. Nana Gambo has redefined what it means to lead by example, and her recognition by the United Nations General Assembly is also a testament to her dogged commitment to empowering women worldwide.
Notable among Dr. Nana’s innumerable feats is her creation of the Framazaz Foundation, an organisation solely dedicated to improving the lives of women and children through community outreach. As a trailblazer in philanthropy and community development, she just recently donated essential items to 300 students in one of the schools within the FCT.
She also generously covered the medical expenses of patients unable to afford treatment and so magnanimously facilitated the release of over 40 prisoners by settling the fines required for their freedom. This selfless act allowed these people to reclaim their independence and start over.

Not only has Amb. Nana won on the global scene, but in her personal life as well. Being the doting wife to the former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo (Rtd.) CFR, Amb. Nana has set a course for the young generation and old alike to follow, being a true example of the proverbial woman; a virtuous woman in every sense of the word.
As a beacon of hope and light, some of Amb. Nana’s significant milestones include: welfare; community development; Healthcare Initiatives; and empowerment programmes, Clean water project; and Philanthropy among others.
In the area of welfare. Ambassador Gambo’s vision is deeply rooted in her desire to provide hope and support to society’s most vulnerable. Under her visionary leadership, NOWA implemented several impactful intervention initiatives that significantly improved the lives of naval officers’ families. These initiatives focused on providing essential support systems, such as enhanced healthcare services and skill acquisition programs for spouses. Additionally, Amb. Nana spearheaded community outreach programs, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration within the naval community.
On community development, Amb. Nana was instrumental in starting and overseeing quite a number of community development projects, such as the groundbreaking ceremony for the NOWA Events Center in Abuja and the building of the NOWA Shopping Complex in Navy Barracks, Kuje.
Yet another significant milestone is the ongoing construction of a 200- bed Women and Children Green Smart Hospital. This clearly demonstrates her commitment to enhancing healthcare services for women and children in the naval community and the nation at large.
Dr. Nana helped organise training sessions, workshops, and seminars to give naval officers’ spouses the necessary skills to become independent and self-reliant. Thus, amplifying her role as a force for social justice and positive change.
As a way to help impoverished communities, Amb. Nana and her vibrant team actively participated in philanthropic gestures such as medical missions, donation drives, and welfare initiatives.
One of her notable projects is the Clean Water project, which aims to give people without access to clean water safe drinking water. Several states, including Rivers, Delta, Nasarawa, Kogi, Niger, Edo, and the Federal Capital Territory, were adequately reached by the effort. She worked with local governments and non-governmental organisations to implement her Clean Water Project, which supplies drinkable water to underprivileged communities.
