Ododo urges Kogi residents to support security agencies with timely intelligence

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has appealed to residents to enhance cooperation with security agencies by providing credible intelligence to bolster ongoing efforts against criminal activities in the state.

The governor made the appeal during a brief stop at Gegu community in Kogi Local Government Area over the weekend, where he was warmly received by residents who came out in large numbers to welcome him back from national engagements.

Governor Ododo lauded the people of Gegu for their unity, communal spirit, and commitment to peace, describing such values as essential to effective community policing and the overall security of the state.

“I appreciate you all for your love, unity, and commitment to peace. Our communities must remain vigilant and work closely with security agencies to keep Kogi safe,” a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, quoted the governor to have said.

He urged citizens to report any suspicious movements or activities that could pose a threat to public safety, stressing that the collective effort of all residents is vital to winning the fight against insecurity.

“If you see something, say something. Intelligence is the lifeline of security, and every citizen has a role to play. We will not allow criminals to take shelter among us,” the governor emphasized.

Ododo noted that sustained intelligence sharing between communities and security operatives is key to consolidating the gains already achieved in the state’s security architecture. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that criminal elements find no safe haven in Kogi.

“We have made significant progress in securing our state, and we must not relent. This administration will continue to provide all necessary support to our security agencies to protect lives and property,” he stated.

The governor, who is currently on a working visit to Yagba Federal Constituency following reports of security concerns in the area, assured residents that the state government is strengthening logistics and coordination to maintain peace and order across all communities.

He further called on traditional rulers, community leaders, and youths to serve as the first line of defence by volunteering timely and reliable information that could aid in preventing crime and facilitating the arrest and prosecution of criminals.
