Jointly honour Nurses Across the Borders

For his numerous roles, engagements, advocacy, sincere pursuit of climate change mitigation, adaptation and sustainability, Pastor Peters Osawaru Omoragbon, the Executive President, Nurses Across the Borders International, has been celebrated by the Delta State Ministry of Environment in partnership with Kegala Environmental Consultancy Limited led by Diloci Olugala.

The duo also celebrated Mrs… Omoragbon for her great support to her husband in all his endeavours.

The ministry and her partner also presented the Delta State Environmental Award (DSESA 2025) to Nurses Across the Borders International in recognition as the Environmental Sustainability Champion (Civil Society)

The award was in recognition of the organisation’s unwavering dedication and intentional advocacy for climate change over the years.

The Environmental Sustainability Award 2025 which dated September 26, 2025 was officially presented to the NGO at a side event at the COP 30 in Brazil on Thursday, November 20. It was a recognition for dedication, commitment and visionary leadership in climate change matters.

Present during the award ceremony were Honourable Rex ANIGHORO, SSA to the Delta State Governor on Civic Engagement on behalf of the government and Commissioner, Ministry of Environment Delta State and Kegala Environmental Consultancy Limited, among other.

Before the award, Pastor Mrs Helen Omoragbon was appreciateed and honoured for her commitment and solidarity with her husband in all he is doing. She was described as the brain behind the good works of her husband, a committed, faithful woman who stands solidly and strongly behind her husband through thick and thin. Mrs Omoragbon was celebrated as a global icon from Nigeria “You are a great woman, your children are many, we are now your children” the moderator enthused.

Before presenting the award, Pastor Peters Osawaru Omoragbon was described in the following words, “You have paid your dues and nobody can take it away from you. You have raised a generation of people who will take over from you who will do the job. I did say sometime ago that coming to COP is not a jamboree because of people like you.

“If one more person is added to the soldiers who will fight for the earth and the planet, then you have achieved so much. That is why we have decided to celebrate you every year for what you are doing,” he said.

The Award reads: Delta State Ministry of Environment in partnership with Kegala Environmental Consultancy Limited present Delta State Environmental Sustainability Award (DSESA 2025) to Nurses Across the Borders International, in recognition as the Environmental Champion (Civil Society Award) presented to you today at COP 30, Brazil.”

Pastor Omoragbon is prominently known to be in the pioneer UNFCCC Designated Contact Person and whose NGO-Nursed Across the Borders International as the first NGO to be granted Observer Status in Nigeria has been in the vanguard of climate change mitigation and adaptation advocacy since 2004 which has earned him recognition all over the world especially international bodies like the united nations and national and regional bodies.
