Galadima alleges plot to bar Kwankwaso from visiting Kano

By Myke Uzendu, Abuja

A close ally of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Buba Galadima, has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State is plotting to prevent the former governor from visiting his home state.

Galadima made the claim during an interview with DCL Hausa recently, where he said there were indications that a document had been submitted to the Presidency aimed at restricting Kwankwaso’s movements.

“There is a paper before the Presidential Villa, and from what we are hearing, it is meant to prevent Kwankwaso from coming to Kano,” Galadima said.

He argued that any attempt to bar Kwankwaso from entering Kano would be politically motivated and inconsistent with democratic norms.

“They are trying to stop him from coming to his own state for political reasons,” he added.

Galadima said they were awaiting a response from the Presidency on the matter, noting that the alleged move appeared similar to past efforts to frustrate the former governor politically.

The former National Secretary of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) also commented on reports from the United States recommending sanctions against certain Nigerians, including Kwankwaso, describing the development as unsurprising.

“To us, this is not surprising. Although this was not exactly what we expected, there have been many rumours,” he stated.

Galadima further alleged that pressure had previously been mounted on Kwankwaso to defect to the APC, claiming that political associates had warned him of possible consequences if he refused to join the ruling party.

“From the time Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was told he must join the APC, many people, including his friends and associates, warned him that if he refused, unpleasant things would be arranged against him,” he claimed.

According to him, some of Kwankwaso’s close associates had advised the former governor to switch parties to avoid political challenges, citing what he described as serious threats.

However, Galadima maintained that Kwankwaso remained resolute and would not defect unless certain conditions he set in the interest of the people were met.

“Kwankwaso is not scared. He has made it clear that he will not move to another party unless the conditions he set for the good of the people are fulfilled,” he said.

There has been no official response from the APC or the Presidency to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
