APC G3 lauds Bola Ahmed Tinubu over U.S. security partnership

The APC Grassroots Governance Group (APC G3) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for deepening Nigeria’s security collaboration with the United States Armed Forces, describing the move as bold, strategic and timely.

In a statement issued in Abuja by its National Coordinator, Amechi Chuks Oyema, the group said the enhanced cooperation reflects proactive leadership and a firm commitment to addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

APC G3 noted that threats such as terrorism, banditry, oil theft and transnational organized crime require advanced intelligence capabilities, modern surveillance systems and specialized counter-terrorism training. It added that collaboration with the United States would strengthen intelligence sharing, improve operational efficiency and boost the overall capacity of Nigeria’s armed forces.

According to the group, global terror networks operate across borders with sophisticated technology and financing structures, making international alliances essential in combating insecurity effectively.

“President Tinubu has demonstrated courage and foresight by prioritizing the safety and stability of the nation. Strategic global partnerships are critical in confronting modern security threats,” the statement said.

The group dismissed concerns that the partnership could undermine Nigeria’s sovereignty, insisting that the arrangement instead reinforces national security architecture by equipping security agencies with the tools and expertise needed to protect territorial integrity and critical infrastructure.

APC G3 further stated that the strengthened security collaboration aligns with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly its focus on restoring peace, safeguarding economic assets and creating a stable environment conducive to investment and development.

It called on Nigerians to support the Federal Government’s security reforms and urged political stakeholders to approach international defense cooperation from a national interest perspective rather than partisan considerations.

The group reaffirmed its support for President Tinubu’s security initiatives, expressing optimism that sustained cooperation with global partners would accelerate efforts to defeat criminal elements threatening the country’s unity and progress.
