The planned 10,000-man solidarity march by Greater Awgu youths, facilitated by the Ifediche Political Family in support of Peter Mbah and the newly elected Enugu State APC executive led by Martin Chukwunweike, has been rescheduled from Friday, April 4 to Friday, April 11, 2026.
A press statement issued by the leader of the Ifediche Political Family, Mazi A.A. Ezenwa, said the shift became necessary due to the revered Christian observance of ‘Good Friday,’ which falls on April 4.
The programme, titled, “Lets show solidarity and Celebrate for our tomorrow is here’, entails a 10,000-man march by youths drawn from Aninri, Awgu and Oji River local government areas. The event is scheduled to hold on Friday, April 11, at the Oji Urban axis of Greater Awgu, terminating at the Oji River Local Government headquarters.
In the statement, Dr. Ezenwa Onyirimba said the march is also aimed at demonstrating support for the Martin Chukwunweike-led APC state executive in Enugu State, as well as High Chief Chimaobi Nze.
He further noted that the April 11 solidarity march will equally underscore the group’s backing for Comrade Basil Ojengwa, the new APC Youth Leader in Enugu State, and Hon. Ejike Ilo.
Observers say the initiative by the Ifediche Political Family is part of efforts to deepen the presence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, particularly within the Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal Constituency, popularly known as Greater Awgu.
The group recently concluded a tour of the 41 wards in Greater Awgu, during which it inaugurated local government and ward coordinators across Aninri, Awgu and Oji River councils.
Further checks indicate that Dr. Ezenwa Onyirimba, a key stakeholder in the Enugu APC, is working to strengthen ties between both old and new party members and Governor Peter Mbah, with a view to securing a landslide victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
Sources also revealed that Dr. Onyirimba is considering contesting for the Aninri/Awgu/Oji River Federal House of Representatives seat in the 2027 National Assembly election on the APC platform.
