The Forum of Alumni Associations of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, is set to hold its maiden Global Homecoming from June 11 to 14, 2026.

The event, the first of its kind in the history of the institution, is being organised by the IMT Enugu Alumni Association under the leadership of Mazi Dr. Agodi Kanu. It is expected to attract distinguished alumni of the institution from different parts of the world.

IMT Enugu was established in 1973 by the defunct East Central State administration led by the late Ukpabi Asika.

Briefing journalists in Enugu, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee for the forthcoming Forum of Alumni Associations, IMT Enugu Global Homecoming, Dr. Oliver Ngwoke, said participants are expected to arrive in Enugu on Thursday, June 11, while the event will officially commence on Friday, June 12, with a courtesy visit to the Rector.

Dr. Ngwoke, who is also the Deputy National President of the IMT Alumni Association, disclosed that members would embark on a facility tour of their alma mater before the courtesy visit to the Rector.

He added that activities scheduled for Friday, June 12, would also include charity visits to selected motherless babies’ homes and an old people’s home. This will be followed by novelty volleyball matches between the Alumni Association team and the IMT Management team, as well as between the Alumni Association team and the students’ team.

He said Saturday’s activities would begin with a fitness walk at Okpara Square, after which an alumni lecture would be held at the International Conference Centre, Campus 3, IMT Enugu.

According to him, the lecture, themed “Alumni as the Mirrors and Ambassadors of their Alma Mater,” will be delivered by Dr. Queen Ifeoma Osuala, an IMT alumna who is currently a lecturer at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku, Rivers State.

He further disclosed that Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, former Minister of Mines and Steel Development and President of Masters Energy Group, will deliver the keynote address, while the event will be chaired by Dr. George Moghalu, the 2025 Labour Party governorship candidate in Anambra State. Both Dr. Ogah and Dr. Moghalu are alumni of IMT.

Dr. Ngwoke stated that the Saturday programme would also feature the award of scholarships to selected National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) students of IMT with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) under the programme tagged “SCHOLARS SPARKS,” an initiative of the National Executive of the IMT Alumni Association led by Dr. Agodi Kanu.

He noted that the day’s activities would further include a courtesy visit to the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, at the Government House, Enugu.

The event will culminate in a gala dinner and award night during which notable IMT alumni who have distinguished themselves in various fields of human endeavour across the globe will be honoured and recognised.

A thanksgiving service to round off the four-day maiden global homecoming of the IMT Alumni Association will hold at the Holy Spirit Chapel, IMT Enugu, on Sunday, June 14, before participants depart.

In a telephone interview, the President of the Forum of Alumni Associations of IMT Enugu, Mazi Agodi Kanu, said all necessary arrangements had been put in place to ensure the success of the event.

He also wished all alumni who have indicated interest in participating in the homecoming a safe journey to Enugu.
