The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has commended security agencies and other groups involved in the successful rescue of corps members abducted in Kogi State on August 26, 2026.
The corps members were abducted while travelling from the Bayelsa State orientation camp to Abuja after completing their Orientation Course.
In a statement by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, the NYSC praised the Nigerian Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Kogi State vigilante groups and others who contributed to the search and rescue operation.
“The professionalism, courage, commitment, and coordination demonstrated in rescuing the Corps Members are deeply appreciated,” Embu said.
She said the NYSC also acknowledged the unwavering support and commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the safety and welfare of corps members nationwide.
According to her, the security agencies were motivated by the President’s concern and commitment to ensuring the urgent and successful rescue of the abducted corps members.
The NYSC also appreciated the crucial roles played by the Office of the National Security Adviser and the Minister of Youth Development in the recovery efforts.
The Scheme commended the families of the affected corps members for their patience and cooperation throughout the incident.
It also praised the media for the professional manner in which it handled the episode without compromising the safety of the corps members while they were in captivity.
