Hon Onuigbo empowers 120 women, youths

Over 120 youths and women from Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency have benefited from the Entrepreneurship Development Training Programme and Supply of Empowerment Materials organized by the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency, Chief Sam Onuigbo in partnership with the Border Communities Development Agency(BCDA),Office of the Presidency.

Addressing the beneficiaries while handing over the start-off packs and empowerment materials, the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency, Chief Sam Onuigbo challenged them to make good use of the opportunity and use the materials to improve their lives and their communities.

Chief Onuigbo who noted that he has been embarking on such programmes from time to time to positively affect the lives of his constituents appreciated the Border Communities Development Agency for the partnership adding that he will not relent in his efforts at ensuring that the lives of his constituents are transformed from all fronts.

In their separate speeches, some of the representatives of the Border Communities Development Agency, Office of the Presidency, including Mr. Pius Ake and Awele Otakpor said as part of the main thrust of the Agency which is to develop the border communities and their people and discourage them from engaging in acts that will portray them and the country in bad light, they embarked on the partnership programme with the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency to train and empower the women and youths, expressing optimism that the programme will help douse the tension in the border communities and better the lots of the people.

Responding, some of the beneficiaries including Miriam Uche, Kenneth Kalu and Favour Emeka who were overwhelmed with joy appreciated Chief Sam Onuigbo for his quality representation of the federal constituency and the gesture assuring that they will put the knowledge acquired and items which include sewing machines, blenders, motorcycles and grinding machines to good use.
