In their attempt to add value and boost twaching and learning capacity in schools in Nasarawa state,no fewer than 800 NCE teachers were employed and deployed to boarding schools across the state.
The Chairman Parent Teachers Association ( PTA) Mallam Ahmed Mohammed disclosed this to selected journalists on Friday in his office in Lafia,the Nasarawa state capital.
He said apart from the 800 NCE teachers,the association had on it payroll 200 university graduates ,200 security men and Nurses.
Mallam Ahmed also added that to meet the current trend by encouraging learning among students ,the association has built 30 clinics in some schools spread across the state.
According to him,the only way discipline, morales and thorough learning will returned to schools today to match the quality the country desire and target to achieved ,is by ensuring that teaching profession is given top priority.
” Teachers most be treated as care givers,bridge builders and their salariesost also be proved.
” it is unthinkable that government today treat educationists as second class citizens, whereas every professional,expert get to the top with the contribution of the teacher.
” I therefore will suggest that government guaranteed loans for teachers to enable them some convenient, as mobility,housing and other live essentials” He pointed.
The PTA chairman lamented the spate of unethical practices and cultism which has taken over must schools even from the primary levels .
According to him parents should ensure they play a role in the training of their wards ,saying a lot of the character manifested by students in school sometime is due to lack of closed monitoring by parents when their children returned from school.
He also appealed to the Nasarawa state government, especially that the current governor ,engineer Sule takes seriously education as one of his agenda ,to improved teachers renomination of teachers.
