From Maduabuchi Nmeribeh, Kano
Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on Monday personally arrested vehicles that flouted the closed border order at Kura town, about 35 kilometers away from Kano city.
The AUTHORITY reports that Ganduje, accompanied by the Managing Director of Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Hon. Baffa Dan Agundi and operatives of the Director of State Service (DSS), made a surprise appearance at the border town where he personally impounded some vehicles en route Kano from Lagos, Port Harcourt and Plateau states.
The action was part of Governor Ganduje’s efforts to curb the infiltration of the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic into the state.
Recall that the Kano Chief Executive days ago banned vehicular and human movement in and out of Kano state, with exception to vehicles carrying essential commodities such as Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
The impounded articulated vehicles and buses were moved to KAROTA office along Club Road Kano, while the drivers and occupants are handed over to security agencies for interrogation and further investigation.
As at the time of filling this report, The AUTHORITY reports that Kano remains free from the hazardous COVID-19 which has continued to ravage the world.
Residents of Kano, upon directive from Ganduje observed praying and fasting on Monday, seeking God’s intervention to save Kano and Nigeria from the deadly virus.
