Revenue: Nasarawa begins central billing system – official

The Commissioner of Special Duties and Revenue Generation, Alhaji Mohammed Bashir, has said that all revenue sources in the state have been collapsed into a single central billing system.

Bashir disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday in Lafia, the state capital.

According to him, all the leakages in revenue collections from the local government and that of the state levels have been also blocked to pave way for a central billing system where receipt are no longer issued manually.

He further explained that the target of generating about N3 billion annually can be achieved if not for the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak.

The commissioner, however, posited that at the moment in the mix of the coronavirus which has had a negative impact on the economy of the state, “Never the less, we are striving hard as the state at the moment can boost of generating over N300 million monthly.

“This is so, because of the application of the central billing system, as revenue leakages had been blocked”, he added.

He said the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule means well for the state, with the introduction of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) which has also strengthens some MDAs in the state.
