Political activities within the All Progressives Congress (APC),Enugu state chapter is springing up gradually over who becomes the next state chairman of the party in the state. Chief Ben Nwoye the incumbent chairman, whose executive transformed into the state caretaker committee of the party,based on recommendations of Governor Bunmi led national committee of the party will not be seeking re election.
Since nature abhors vacuum, the Enugu state APC party stakeholders in their recent meetings accepted the option of zoning the various positions of the party among the three senatorial districts in the state namely Enugu East senatorial zone, ,Enugu West Senatorial zone and Enugu North senatorial zone commonly known as Nsukka Cultural zone, ,so as to accommodate various group interests who will navigate the party for better results.
It was gathered that the position of the next state chairman of the party was zoned to Enugu West senatorial zone, the position of state vice chairman of the party should come from Enugu East senatorial zone While Enugu North senatorial distinct produces the next state secretary of the party.
A close monitor of events within the party in the past two weeks indicates that Comrade A C.Ude,the pioneer deputy chairman if the party is the candidate to beat in the context for the next state chairman of the party. Comrade Ude who is currently the chairman,mobilization and contact committee in Enugu state is described by many stakeholders of the party,as a grass root politician,who has remained steadfast with the party amidst troubled moments.
It was gathered authoritatively that when Comrade A. C. Ude took his campaigns to the grassroots and party loyalists across the 17 local government areas of Enugu state, Some of the grass roots members of the party promised to contribute money in buying nomination form for him. Not just for the fact that he comes from Enugu West senatorial district where the next chairman of the party is zoned, but for his consistency and the various roles he is playing to consolidate the strength of the party among the grassroots.
Engr Ikechukwu Obuneme,a stakeholder of the party from Enugu North senatorial district who voluntarily decided to join the campaign train of Comrade A.C. Ude, disclosed that the party leadership from the six local government areas in Enugu North senatorial zone,has taken a decision to support Comrade A.C Ude in becoming the next state chairman of APC in Enugu state, because one other aspirant have romanced with the ruling party PDP in Enugu state and was appointed as a commissioner.
,But Comrade A .C.Ude has remained consistent with APC since 2014,weathering the storms and is very well known both at the grassroot level,state and national echelon of the party as trust worthy foundation member of the party.
Comrade A.C Ude who concluded his campaign tours with a visit to Oji River and Ezeagu local government areas at the weekend,was also assured of maximum support from Enugu West senatorial zone. His own local government (Awgu)party stakeholders are among those who ptomised to purchase the chairmanship nomination form for him.
