Many stakeholders ofthe All Progressives Congress( APC) party in Enugu state hasdescribed the congress of the party held on Saturday,July 31,as verypeaceful,devoid of rancour, signifying that peace has eventually returned inthe state wing of the party.
The chairman of thestate working committee of the party,Chief Ben Nwoye testified to the fact thatthere was no parallel congress conducted in the state since the state partystakeholders resolved conflicting issues earlier before thecongress.
The Minister offoreign affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, who monitored some wards in the state inhis capacity as the leader of the party in the state, commended the unity andsincerity of purpose with which APC party faithful in Enugu state participatedmassively in the exercise.
Onyeama, whose firstport of call in his monitoring exercise was Eke ward (his own) in Udilocal government area of Enugu state, extolled the large turnout for theexercise held within the premises of St Paul’s Teachers Training College, Eke..
While commending theparty faithful for their consciousness and willingness, he urged them tovote for candidates of their choice, stating he as a person did not anoint anyperson for any position.
At Udi/Agbuduward, the immediate past civilian governor of the state, Mr SullivanChime, described the exercise in his ward as very peaceful. He disclosed thatthe series of meeting by his ward party members prior to the congress, enhancedthe consensus arrangement used in the election of most of the officials.
His words,”Youcan see that we are together. We held meetings to encourage them and that showsthat we are one family”
“I believe what ishappening here today is an indication of what is happening across other wardsin the state”.
The AUTHORITY observedthat the election also produced a five man state delegate of the ward whomincludes Chief Flavour Eze, a personal assistant to the Foreign affairsMinister, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, Barr Ugochukwu Agballa, a foundationmember of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Enugu state who also ran for theEnugu state governorship the, former governorship eat in 2023 on theplatform of APGA,but lost to the then incumbent, Senator ChimarokeNnamani(PDP).
Agballah described theconsensus process of electing most of the officials as part of internaldemocracy, indicating that unity and common understanding is now thrivingin the state wing of the party.
Likewise, at Amechiward 2,in Enugu South local government area, Chief Ken Nnamani, the Secretary National caretaker committee of APC, told news men that the conductof the exercise in his ward was very peaceful. He commended the party faithfulin his ward for their team spirit.
Hon Hyacinth Ngwu, whoalso belongs to Amechi ward 2, glittered with hopes that APC will make adifference in Enugu state, in the coming general elections.
The Federal CharacterCommissioner for Enugu state, Ambassador Mrs Ginika Tor, who participated inher Ugbo/Ogugu/Owelli/Amoli ward in Awgu local government area of Enugu state, describedthe conduct of the exercise which was held at Central School Amoli asvery active and peaceful. She extolled the party national leadership andstakeholders in the state for their commitment which endeared a peacefulconduct of the exercise in Enugu state.
Another Chieftain ofthe party in Enugu state, Hon Val Nnadozie, who spoke from Oji River said thatthe exercise was smooth and fair in his ward Achi Uno 2. He disclosedthat the officials emerged through consensus arrangement.
His words, “Theward congress in my ward was very successful. We obeyed all guidelines and producedall the officers through consensus. We believe other wards did same. so we canin a united stand take over Enugu state government house,come 2023”

The APC CongressCommittee secretary to Enugu state, Mr Sherrif Jallab , who spoke to news menat Udi/Agbudu ward, described the conduct of the exercise in Enugu state, asvery peaceful and effective in Enugu state,from the much he observed.
He stated,”I havebeen to several wards including Eke ward, Udi/Agbudu ward and can confirm thatthe exercise has been peaceful I am satisfied with what I have seen sofar”.
