The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Rivers State Chapter, has honoured the Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Prof Kaniye Ebeku, for his outstanding contributions to Education in the State and the country at large.
The women journalists group, also decorated Prof Ebeku, Patron of the association.
The event was held yesterday in his office at the state Secretariat, Port Harcourt, during the investiture of the Education Boss as the Patron of NAWOJ.
Presenting the award, the Chairperson of NAWOJ, Comrade Susan Serekara-Nwikhana noted that Prof Ebeku is a lecturer and a mentor whom NAWOJ has been privileged to tap from his wealth of knowledge.
She said that Prof Ebeku who was listed amongst the first top 10 law researchers in Nigeria in 2021 despite his engagements in the state as Education
Commissioner clinched the 6th position out of 3,570 lecturers in the current Scientific Index rankings of researchers in the field of Law.
NAWOJ Chairperson further lauded his outstanding contributions to Education, Human and Capital development as well as upliftment of humanity noting that NAWOJ has in recognition of all those contributions found him worthy to be her patron.
In her speech before the presentation of the award and decoration of Professor Ebeku, the NAWOJ ChairPerson, Susan Serekara-Nwikhana, cited the recent ranking of Professor Ebeku as Number 6 of the Top 10 Legal Scientists in Nigeria by the AD Scientific Index Ranking 2021 as an eloquent testimony of his high academic and professional standing.
In his response, Professor Kaniye Ebeku thanked NAWOJ for the Education Icon Award and recognition accorded him on his birthday which was held same yesterday.
He urged NAWOJ members to be faithful with the truth in their reports adding that he never knew group has been taking records of his achievements in the Education Sector.
Prof. Ebeku stressed the need to be humble irrespective of status adding “whatever I am today was given to me by God whom I owe all the glory”.
