~ Shuts Down Hospital Billed For Commissioning In Uga,
The Senator Ifeanyi Ubah Campaign Organization has accused the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator Andy Uba of unleashing thugs on his supporters who were in Uga for the commissioning of a hospital he built.
Kamen Ogbonna the Director of Media and Publicity of the Senator Ubah campaign organization raised the alarm in a statement on Wednesday.
According to him”information reaching us now has it that the Candidate of the APC in the forthcoming Anambra State Governorship Election, Senator Andy Uba this afternoon mobilized thugs to attack the advance team sent by the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District and Candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah to prepare for the commissioning and hand-over of the ultra-modern hospital built in Uga.
“Our young campaign volunteers including young girls were beaten up, with their clothes torn to shreds. Senator Ifeanyi Ubah’s legislative Aide, Mr. Bernard Nwanya was also thoroughly manhandled. This ugly incident is yet another in a growing list of violent acts being associated with Senator Andy Uba.
He said that “this brazen descent to lawlessness must be condemned by all Anambrarians and lovers of peaceful election, especially coming from someone who seeks the high office of Governor of Anambra State. Does this suggest that Senator Andy Uba will run citizens who criticise him out of town in the most unlikely event that he is elected governor? .
“This is a serious red flag that must worry not only Anambrarians but all stakeholders. It is even more instructive that Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah has maintained the most civilized and issue-based campaign since the start of the electioneering process in Anambra State and has stayed away from the mudslinging that the other candidates has been throwing at themselves” Ogbonna added.
He noted that “the shameful exchanges and display of dirty linen in public by the three so called main political parties during a live debate on Arise Television recently is still very fresh in the minds of our people. It is also noteworthy that the YPP candidate has been in the forefront of efforts towards a violence-free campaign while encouraging other candidates to tow the same line.
“The Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah Campaign Organisation (SDPIUCO) however wishes to state emphatically that this action will no longer be tolerated. We demand immediate investigation into this sad incident with a view to ensure that the culprits are speedily brought to justice. We also call for the arrest and prosecution of one “Mr. Evergreen” who is said to be the head of the Youth Taskforce in Uga and the arrow-head deployed by Senator Andy Uba to perpetrate this heinous act .
“We assure Ndi Anambra that this desperate act by Senator Andy Uba will not be swept under the carpet as we will follow this up to logical conclusion” he declared.
