Fulani terror gangs, which masquerade as armed herdsmen on Wednesday held communities in Delta, Plateau and Kogi states hostage.
In the Plateau State incident, the criminals killed five residents and burnt several houses while in Abraka community of Delta State, the residents fled their homes.
The AUTHORITY learnt that Abraka and its neighbouring villages had been under siege from the a�?killera�? herdsmen who recently killed one Happy Akpomiemie, a father of 11 children in the area.
Angry residents, especially those of Ovre-Abraka/Urhuoka areas, have abandoned their houses to an unknown destination for fear of being killed by the herdsmen.
A fleeing resident, Abel Umukoro, said: a�?People who do business in Abraka main town currently close early to enable them get home before it is nightfall. These herdsmen have begun their fresh attacks on our people; we are fed up with this herdsmen issuea�?.
But the Police Commissioner, Mr. Muhammad Mustafa, said that the command was working hard to ensure the attackers are brought to book.
He warned that any herdsman caught with arms would be prosecuted.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, expressed worry over the renewed attacks by the herdsmen in Abraka and its environs. He however assured the people of the state governmenta��s readiness to protect them.
In Plateau State, the bloody attacks took place in Rafiki and Dong communities of Jos North Local Government Area.
The attacks began in the early hours of Wednesday, forcing the residents to flee for safety. There were reports that the Fulani herders were shooting sporadically, with five people already killed.
The spokesman of the Operation Safe Haven, Major Adam Umar and the Police Public Relations Officer, Mathias Tyopev confirmed the incidents. They said that their outfits were on top of the situation.
In Ogane-Nigwu village in Iyale/Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, the killer herdsmen reportedly invaded the community killing 12 persons and setting several houses ablaze, as at press time.
Although no official confirmation was made, security operatives had arrived and had restored normalcy.
