8 killed, troops destroy herdsmen militia camp in Benue, Plateau

Troops of the 72 Special Forces Battalion have destroyed herdsmen militia camps in Benue State.
The Army said that the operations in the camps abandoned by criminals were carried out on Sunday, April 8, 2018 within Gbajimba, Kaseyo and Adagu communities.
In a statement, the Army said that one motorcycle was recovered from one of the camps during the operations.
Similarly, troops of the 101 Special Forces Battalion on Saturday carried out clearance operation at some identified armed robbers and kidnappers hideouts in Shaka, Ananum and Donga settlements of Taraba State.
They recovered one wooden gun with the shape of an AK-47 rifle at Shaka village during the search.
The Army appealed to the public to always cooperate with the troops by providing useful and timely information to them.
Meanwhile, the killings in Plateau State have continued as eight people were killed in Nding loh, Fan District of Barkin Ladi Local Government.
It was gathered that the victims were shot dead by suspected herdsmen.
The AUTHORITY learnt that the incident occurred on Sunday evening at a relaxation point near the entrance of the community of Nding loh.
A resident of the area, Mr. Barnabas Rwang, said that the attackers took advantage of the open spot to shoot at the victims.
The spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, Mr. Mathias Tyopev Terna, confirmed the incident to journalists, but said five persons died while the three who were injured were taken to the Plateau Specialist Hospital, Jos.
