78 die from strange disease in Delta

A strange disease, suspected to be pile has claimed 78 people in Delta State.
The ailment, which is still ravaging various communities in the state, reportedly killed the victims in one month.
Sources said that it has spread to 13 of the 25 local government areas in the state.
The victims manifest various inexplicable symptoms, with some of them emitting whitish substance and with offensive odour from their anus.
In Asaba, Ughelli, Ibusa, Agbor, Okpanam, this a�?strange pilea�? which also had reportedly defiled medications, appears in their anus with rashes.
Within a few weeks, it developed into full blown a�?pilea�? in their anus with severe pains, especially during nightfall.
Although the Ministry of Health claimed ignorance of the strange disease, the Health Commissioner, Dr. Ononye Mordi, attributed it to a�?dirty water.a�?
At the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba, where some affected persons are receiving treatment, doctors told The AUTHORITY that the disease was a�?strange.a�?
Dr. M.O. Osarenkhoe who disagreed with the claims that the disease might be caused by dirty water, said if it had defiled medications, it must be a�?strange.a�?
Some relations of the dead victims in Asaba and Ibusa, said: a�?We battled to save our relations, we took them to various hospitals no avail, we spent huge amount of money. There was nowhere we did not take them, we even took them to native, yet they died with offensive odour, and whitish liquid.a�?
