Minister charges Corps members to be law abiding, security conscious

The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has advised Corps Members to be law abiding and security conscious.

She gave this advise during the official opening/swearing-in ceremony for the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation course on Tuesday at the NYSC permanent orientation camp Kubwa, Abuja.

The Minister who was represented by the Mandate Secretary, Social Development Secretariat, Mallam Ibrahim Aminu, assured Corp Members deployed to the FCT of adequate security and urged them to use the scheme to compliment government’s effort in spear heading development programmes in the Territory.

She said, “We shall endeavour to ensure that you undergo your orientation course in safely, and that your welfare is taken care of within the resources available to us. Your safety is also a priority as government has deployed several security agencies to the camp to ensure the security of your lives and properties.”

Meanwhile, the FCT NYSC  Coordinator, Mrs Winifred Shokpeka maintained that the Scheme had played a pivotal role in National Unity, Integration and building of socio- cultural bridges across different cultural and religious groups.

Mrs Shokpeka advised the Youth to comport themselves and shun any negative behavior especially drug abuse.

A total of Four thousand, Five Hundred and Fifty-six Corps Members have been registered for the orientation course.
