Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele and her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello (aka JJC Skillz), have been fined N100,000 each and were equally ordered to serve 14 days of community service for violating the Lagos State Regulation on Social Distancing.
The sentence was upon their guilty plea made before Magistrate Aje Afunwa on Monday following the Saturday birthday party hosted by Funke for her husband.
In a video shot that went viral from the posts they made on the social média, Fuke, who is Detol’s Brand Ambassador on covid-19, was seen with a lot of young men and women quaffing drinks in their Lagos apartment indiscriminately without the observing social prescriptions required in this covid-19 pandemic era.
The Magistrate in addition, decided that the two must also observe a period of isolation after the community service.
As part of the community service, the Magistrate decided, they are to visit 10 important places in Lagos in order to educate people on the importance of social distancing.
Similarly, they are to within 24 hours, provide the names and telephone numbers of all the people that attended the party.
The couple was arraigned on Monday morning after the uproar that followed the viral video of the birthday party hosted by Ms. Akindele for her husband on Saturday.
Recall that one Naira Marley, who was spoted in the implicating viral video, as at press time, is yet to present himself to the police as requested. It is uncertain why he decided to go into hiding.
