Uja emerges Benue Correspondents Chapel interim Chairman

Mr. Uja Emmanuel, Correspondent of The Nation newspapers has been inaugurated as the Caretaker and Credentials Committee Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel in Benue state.

The Chairman of NUJ Benue State Council, Comrade Victoria Asher, who performed the ceremony at the David Ukuma hall of at NUJ House, said the decision followed the expiration of the Aloysius Umalo-led leadership of the Chapel on 5th May.

Comrade Asher charged the committee to unite all chapel members and work with the council to achieve success, and urged journalists in the state to observe the ethics of the profession in the course of reportorial duty.

She charge members of the credentials committee to adhere to the constitutional provisions in conducting the election and where in doubt should consult the council for clarification and congratulated them for agreeing to serve in that capacity.

Responding on behalf of other members, Comrade Uja Emmanuel, thanked the council for finding them worthy and pledged to unite the chapel and take it to the next level of unity.

Until his appointment, Uja Emmanuel started his journalism carrier with Daily Tigon and The Target Magazine before joining Anchor newspaper.

Uja Emmanuel after leaving The Sun newspaper joined The Nation and was chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), for over seven years.

The committee with George Okoh of ThisDay as the secretary is to appoint one other member following the declining of one other as member.
