The Federal Roads Emergency ( FERMA) has awarded a contract for the rehabilitation of road shoulders along Gwagwalada- Dobi road in Abuja south zone.
Engr. Ambrose Omameh who is in charge of FCT roads, disclosed this while on an inspection tour to Gwagwalada to see the level of the work done.
Omameh expressed satisfaction with the manner the contractor (Cavudos Nig LTD), is handling the project just as he explained that the work would be completed in less than two months period.
He noted that few years ago FERMA had carried out mentanence on pavement along Gwagwalada-Dobi axis noting that at present the agency deemed it fit to re-instate the bad portions of the shoulders.
The engineer called on the contractor to seek for the assistance of the police to control traffic even as he appealed to the motoring public to cooperate for timely completion of the project.
Omameh reiterated commitment of his leadership in the FCT to continue to supervise projects on specifications just as he applauded managing director of the agency Engineer Rafindadi for providing examplary leadership.
He appealed to the federal government to provide enough funds for road maintenance in the country, describing road projects as intensive sector that needed sufficient budget annually.
The FCT FERMA boss warned against dumping of refuse in the drainage system and committing road abuse such as cutting of road just as he tasked residents to seek for approval from the Federal ministry of works whenever they want to lay pipes.
