The Presidents General of the 29 autonomous communities in Oji River Local Government Area and Achi people are demanding for justice over the recent gruesome murder of a farmer in Amamkpunato-Achi, Eugene Iloabachi which occurred in his farmland yesterday. The PGs who spoke through their Coordinator, Ejike Ilo narrated the past misdeeds of the herdsmen in the area including an earlier killing in 2017.
Ejike Ilo demanded that the herdsmen should be ordered to leave Oji River soil to enable the people engage in their usual farming activities which is now being hampered by the invading herdsmen.
The governor who was represented by his, Peter Nnaedozie told the protesters that one of the suspects has been arrested while security operatives are already combing the area to apprehend the remaining culprits.
The governor later spoke to the Coordinator through the phone to express his sadness at the incident assuring that he will do all humanly possible to secure Enugu people.
He also offered scholarship to the children of the deceased who joined in the protests.
The protesters were also at the Ohanaeze Secretariat in Enugu where they held hours of discussions with the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Nnia Nwodo which was held behind closed doors.
