COVID-19: Anambra philanthropist, Ekworoanya celebrates birthday in style
…Gifts indigent women with bags of rice, cartons of noodles, other items

Anambra born philanthropist and citizen of Urum in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra state, Mr. Joseph Chibuzo Ekworoanya has presented over 500 bags of 25kg rice, cartons of noodles and tin tomatoes to indigent women, the aged and less privileged in the community.
The gesture, according to Ekworoanya was to thank God for blessing him with good health and keeping his desires and dreams alive.
The presentation of the items was preceded with a service presided over by the Vicar, Christ’s Anglican Church parish, Urum, Revd Canon Reuben Okafor.
In his sermon, Canon Okafor extolled the exemplary gesture of the philanthropist, Joseph Ekworoanya who he described as a God sent to the people of Urum and its environs and enjoined others to emulate his philanthropic gesture.
Rev’d Canon: “Chibuzo is a committed child of God who is very dedicated to church activities. By this gesture, he is cultivating in the vineyard of God and God will continue to cultivate in his vineyard for remembering the down trodden on his birthday.
“Nowadays, most Christians spend much time charging their mobile phones without in anyway remembering to charge their lives just as Chibuzo is doing today. Alms giving is a way of attracting God’s mercy and you manifest the Christ in you by remembering people you are better than”
The cleric however called on others to emulate the young philanthropist who is investing his wealth in putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged in the society.
Parents of the celebrant, Mr/Mrs Simon Ekworoanya, on their parts, praised God for blessing their son, Chibuzo who they prayed for God’s blessings and guidance.
The mother, Mrs Georgina Ekworoanya said his son has been a blessing to them while praying God to continue to bless his heart desires.
His elder brother, Mr. Chukwuemeka Ekworoanya said his brother, Chibuzo has been at the forefront of given succour and voice to the voiceless.
“My younger brother has soft spot for the poor because he has a humble beginning. He has been doing this kind of thing individually since he travelled abroad but this time, he accommodated more people with more items, probably to cushion the effect of COVID-19 pandemic that is presently ravaging the world” he said.
Some beneficiaries; Helen Ofoegbune, Felicia Ofoegbue showered encomium on Chibuzo for the gesture which they said will go a long way to cushion the effect of COVID-19 in their community.
A community leader and former President General of Urum Town Union, Mr. Obiora Anowia, otherwise known as Oku Urum said their son, Chibuzo has broken the jinx of alms giving in Urum community.
“He has broken the jinx in our town. We have not witnessed this kind of gesture despite having many wealthy people from the town. I therefore, call on others to emulate him”.
