Police In Kano Nab Woman For Illegal Imprisonment Of Step-Son For 15 Years

Police in Kano on Monday, arrested Binta Sulaiman, for her alleged involvement in the illegal imprisonment of her step son, Ibrahim Lawan (40) for 15 years.

Binta and her husband, Lawan Sheka, who is now at large, allegedly conspired and locked up Ibrahim inside a dilapidated building at the age of 25 years, as punishment for bad behaviour.

Ibrahim, now 40 years old was kept in a pitiable condition, poorly fed, in solitary and folorn atmosphere.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer in-charge of Kano Command who released a Press Statement on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Habu Sani Ahmadu,
“the Kano State Police Command wishes to inform members of the general public that on the 16 August, 2020, information received revealed that one Ibrahim Lawan, aged 40 years old of Sheka Quarters, Kumbotso LGA Kano State was illegally confined for 15 years in a dilapidated room by his Biological father, one Lawan Sheka of the same address inside his house without proper feeding and health care.

“The Command’s Medical Team as well as Team of Operation Puff-Adder led by SP Magaji Musa was raised and immediately swung in to action. The victim was rescued and rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Kano and admitted.

” One suspect named Binta Sulaiman ‘f’, a step mother to the victim was arrested. Effort is in progress to arrest the father of the victim who is currently at large.

“However, the Command’s Commissioner of Police CP Habu A. Sani, ordered the case be transferred to State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) for Discreet Investigations.

The AUTHORITY reports that in less than one week, police in Kano rescued two men locked up by their relatives.

Last Thursday, Ahmed Aminu (30) was rescued from the hands of his own father Aminu Farawa who locked up his son inside a car garage for seven years, as punishment for allegedly smoking Marijuana.

DSP Abdullahi Haruna said, “the Kano State Police Command wishes to inform members of the general public that on the August 13, information received revealed that one Aminu Farawa of Farawa Quarters, Kumbotso LGA Kano State, locked up his biological son, one Ahmed Aminu, 30 years old of the same address inside his car garage within his house for about seven years without proper feeding and health care.

“A Team of Operation Puff-Adder was raised and immediately swung in to action. The victim was rescued and rushed to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital Kano and admitted.

“The father was arrested. Preliminary investigations revealed that the father confessed to have locked-up the victim for three years on allegation of suspected Drug-Abuse.
