ALGON 7-man contract review Committee begins its assignment

The Chairman, Committee on the review of the contract awarded for the construction of comprehensive healthcare centers across the 774 LGAs and Area Councils, Hon Malik Itiako Ikpokpo has convened the first meeting of the Committee where he told them of the need for the Committee to deliver on its assignment.

The seven man committee was set up by the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) National leadership in an effort to unravel all bottlenecks surrounding the said contracts.

In his address to the Committee members, Hon. Ikpokpo who once served as a former Deputy National President of ALGON and current Executive Chairman of Isoko South LGA of Delta state welcomed the members and stated that the mandate and terms of reference given to it would be judiciously and expeditiously met.

Other members of the Committee in attendance were: Hon. Aminu Muazu –Nasarawa, Hon. Shehu Sarki Kebbi-Kebbi, Hon. Solomon Onah- Enugu, Hon. Semiu Bola Lawal- Ogun, Hon. Jingi Rufai-Adamawa and Hajia Binta Bello, the Secretary-General

The Committee Chairman disclosed that the Committee has embarked on verification of all documents involving the said contract award from 2007 till date and stage by stage developments as well as due diligence on pictorial, written, and visual correspondences.

It has also announced its resolve to liaise with the office of the Minister of Finance and that of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, he added.

According to the Chairman, the Committee would also ascertain the veracity and level of work done, reach out and confirm all layers of progress on sites using the connection at its disposal from all 774 LGAs/Councils.

Earlier, a member of the committee from Nasarawa state, Hon, Aminu Muazu stated that physical siting of structures and cost will be part of its assessments.

The Committee has two weeks to submit its report.
