BENUE: Group commends legal icon over peace efforts

A group under the umbrella body of Tiv Youth Organisation ( TYO), Ushongo Chapter, has commended the efforts by a Benue-born legal icon Barr. Pius Akutah, which it noted have greatly enhanced the return of peace between two warring communities in Benue State.

The AUTHORITY gathered that the communities were those of Mbagwaza and Tsambe in Ushongo and Vandeikya local government over issues that bothered on water scarcity.
Akutah who is a counsel with the Federal Ministry of Justice, the TYO informed aside visiting the troubled areas to sue for peace also constructed boreholes in same which has now seen to the cease all hostilities in the two communities.

The group gave the commendation in a statement it issued and duely signed by it’s President Comrade Orduen Aernan ( Okroman) , a copy of which was made available to The AUTHORITY in Makurdi.

It added that it remained on record other laudable achievements of Barr. Akutah which it noted had continued to attract development to the area.

“As communities who are always at war over water, this gesture will in no small way guarantee peace and to which we feel highly appreciative and hence the need for us to publicly commend him as body out to ensure peace and development in Tivland.”

The TYO stressed that “devoid of political sentiments, Barr. Akutah deserves commendation from any peace loving and well-meaning citizen of not just Benue but the entire country, for it’s a truism that without peace there would be no unity and progress in all spheres of human endeavour.”

The statement prayed God to continue to guide and protect him even as it called on other well placed Nigerians to borrow a leaf from Akutah’s good deeds for the overall development of the society.
