Rivers: Lloyds associate decline to join him in PDP

From Blessing Ibunge, Port Harcourt

Political associates of the former Majority Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Chidi Lloyd, who recently defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have pledged their continue loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The group led by Chief Emenike Ebete, during a visit to the Acting Chairman of APC in Emohua, Barr Austin Asomeji, said their loyalty to the party is still intact despite the exit of one of their strong member.

Ebete, who assured the willingness of the group to work and support to build the party back in the state, noted that the exit of Chidi Lloyd was not binding on the members of the group.

He said: “We were Hon Chidi Llyod’s political associates when he was in APC before he took his personal decision to leave the party. Haven left the party; we did not feel it necessary to leave with him. So he has started his own course and we remain in APC because we did not see any reason we should leave the party.

“As members of APC we will continue to support the party, we will rebuild the party so the party can win election in 2023. Whatever thing we will do, we will do so that the party comes up stronger. Chidi Llyod has gone and we don’t have the intention to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party”.

On his Part, the new ward leader of the APC in Lloyd’s Ward 10, Barr Henry Amadi, noted that the exit of the former majority leader does not affect the fortunes of the APC in the Ward.

Receiving the group, Barr Austin Asomeji, who declared that APC in Emohua LGA is under the leadership of Senator Andrew Uchendu, expressed their readiness to accommodate and work with them as party men.
