Police Recover Benue State COVID-19 Palliatives In Kano, Parade 259 Suspected Criminals

Forty nine suspected armed robbers and eight kidnapping suspects were among 259 suspected criminals arrested by the police in Kano within the last six weeks.

Also 1958 Cartons of Dangote Branded Indomie Noodles meant for Benue State Parliative tagged CA-COVID-19 valued at N4,111,800 were recovered, out of 3850 Cartons diverted and sold out.

Briefing journalists at the Bompai Police headquarters, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Habu A. Sani, said police also rescued four victims of solitary confinement, four kidnapping victims and one abduction victim.

According to him, with sustained Puff-Adder Operations, Community Policing engagements and other crime fighting strategies, “the Command has with vigorous vigour continued to execute its policing mandate. We have made remarkable achievements in the course of policing the State.

“This feat was achieved as a result of the strategies mentioned above under the guidance and directives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, NPM, mni.

“Consequently, the command within the last six weeks, that is, from 23rd July, 2020 to 8th September, 2020 arrested 259 suspects for various crimes committed within and outside the State.”

He listed other arrested suspected criminals to include 14 motor vehicle thieves, Seven tricycle thieves, 14 motorcycle thieves, eight drug dealers, 28 fraudsters, and 146 thugs (‘Yan-Daba).

The Police boss further stated that his officers and men also recovered 10 rifles, including one AK-47 rifle, two English Pistols, four locally made guns, three loocally made pistols, 79 Live Ammunition and Cartridges.

CP Habu A. Sani also displayed 13 motor vehicles, eight tricycles and nine motorcycles recovered by the police.

He added that 914 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp weighing 548.4Kg and valued at N4,570,000, three Jerry Cans containing 25 litres each of Liquid substance suspected to be Suck & Die and four Cartons of Rubber Solution were also seized by the police.

Moreso, 200 cartons of suspected fake COLDCAP drugs without NAFDAC Number valued at N4,000,000.00, 150 Cartons of Expired Cov Cola Drinks valued at N150,000, 82 bottles of Codeine Syrup valued at N123,000.00, 84 assorted knives used by Thugs (‘Yan Daba) were also recovered by the police.

Other recovered items include 73 GSM Handsets, one Point of Sale (POS) machine, 985 used MTN SIM Cards, 46 9-Mobile used SIM Cards, 16 used Airtel SIM Cards and Seven different ATM Cards.

Police also recovered one Plasma TV Hisense Model valued N90,000.00, One Laptop HP Model G7 valued 120,000.00, One iphone 11 valued N350,000.00 and an 6x valued N85,000.00.

By the grace of Almighty Allah, we will collectively work together in this era of community policing to surmount any emerging security challenge in the State for enhance internal security, ” he said.
