Enugu APC: Controversy trails alleged suspension of Onyeama’s P.A

From Maurice Okafor,Enugu.

Controversy has trailed last week’s reported suspension of Flavour Eze, the Personal Assistant to Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geofrey Onyeama, by his Udi Local government council chapter of the opposition All Progressives Congress in Enugu state.

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Udi/Agbudu Ward, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu state, on Sunday, denied media reports that the party suspended the Personal Assistant to Foreign Affairs minister, in his ward

The Udi/Agbudu ward Chairman, Mr Petrus Chime, disclosed while briefing newsmen on a reported suspension of Eze by the leadership of the party at the local government level that the ward did not at any time suspend the minister’s aide, insisting that Eze still remains a member of the APC in his ward.

The Udi APC chairman, Hon Osita Igwe, who led other executives of the party to announce the suspension of Mr Eze, during their emergency meeting held on Friday, September 11, said their decision was a ratification of suspension order at his(Eze) ward level.

His words, “The process of suspension of a party member starts from the ward level. Eze is still our member in regular standing,”.

Chima, who described those that pronounced the suspension of Eze as a pressure group seeking for relevance in the party, urged members of the party to discountenance the purported suspension.

Also speaking, the APC chairman in Abor Ward, Chinedum Ukwu, told news men that his ward had earlier suspended Hon Osita Igwe, the chairman of the party in Udi Local Government Area in his ward for alleged anti party activities. He added that they are still waiting for the ratification of his suspension by the party at the local government level.

He stated, “Igwe belongs to my ward and we had already suspended him for antiparty activities. We are surprised that the same person we suspended gathered some members of his group to pronounce Eze suspended”.
