NUJ confers award of excellence on Gov Sule

For three consecutive days, the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), North Central Zone D, which comprise all the six states in the region including the FCT chapter, held its meeting in Lafia.

The meeting started on Friday in earnest as various state chapters of the zone arrived Lafia since Thursday.
On Friday, the delegates paid a courtesy visit on the Nasarawa state Governor , Engineer Abdullahi Sule, at the Government House and followed immediately after the visit, the delegates went for an inspection tour of all projects that were started by the previous administration, but however, were completed by Governor Sule.

The projects inspection was at the instance of the NUJ National President, Comrade Isiguzo Ikechukwu, his secretary, Comrade Usman Leman and the seven chapter chairmen ,led by the National Vice President, Zone D ,Chief Wilson Bako.

On Saturday, at the conference Hall of Mosmera Hotel along Shendam Road ,Lafia, the National President of the NUJ in support of the Vice President Zone D , bestowed on the Nasarawa state governor, an Award of Excellence as the ” Champion of Continuity.”

The event attracted goodwill messages from veterans, the national president and Governor Abdullahi Sule who graciously promised to create a Journalists Village for practicing journalists in the state, even as the wife of the governor, Hajiya Silifat Abdullahi Sule, made a cash donation of five million Naira (N5million) for the purchase of a bus.

In his remarks, Governor Abdullahi Sule,
said an award to him coming from the media is not to be taken with kids gloves especially that, before he came into the race, some of the media firms did not give him space. He said many of the audience may not have known.

He reiterated that “but today standing here before you for an award from the media, means a lot to me.”
