Unknown gunmen kidnaps 2 medical doctors in Kogi

Kidnappers are currently on rampage in Kogi state despite the proactive measures being taken by the state government to eradicate criminality and bring kidnapping to its lowest ebb in the state.

It was gathered that unknown gunmen within this week kidnapped two medical doctors from different locations in the eastern flank of the state.
The kidnapped doctors were identified as Dr. Ebiloma Yahaya Aduku of Zonal Hospital, Ankpa and Dr. Kelechi Mgbahurike of Christ the King Hospital, Anyigba, all from the Eastern flank of Kogi state.

It was gathered that the first victim was kidnapped at Ankpa on October 6, while the latter was kidnapped from his hospital in Anyigba on Wednesday, October 6, 2020, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Medical Association, (NMA), Kogi State Chapter, has confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Friday evening pointing out that their where-about is still unknown.

In a communique jointly signed on Friday, October 9, 2020, by NMA Chairman, Dr Oyiguh Simeon Omakoji and the Secretary, Dr Famotele Tolorunju after an emergency State Executive Council meeting held at its Secretariat Lokoja, however, called for government’s intervention.

The association observed that the kidnappers are in touch with the families of the doctors and they are demanding ransom.

“The meeting resolved to use this medium to appeal to the Kogi State Government to work with the security agencies, families of the doctors to help secure the release of the doctors as a matter of urgency”.

When contacted, the Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, William Aya said he would avail our correspondent with needed information after he has received signals from the Divisional Police Officers in Ankpa and Anyigba area of the State.
