IGP Orders Immediate Withdrawal of Police Officers from EFCC

The Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, has directed the immediate withdrawal of senior police officers from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The instruction was contained in an official memo, stating that those to immediately vacate the EFCC office are police officers from the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), and above, who were attached to the anti-graft agency.

It added that they are to report to Acting Commissioner of Police, CP, Idowu Owohunwa, the Principal Staff Officer to the IGP, by today (Wednesday, 21st April) at 10am, a memo sent to the EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, said.

According to the memo, signed by CP Owohunwa, and dated 15th April 2021, the decision was informed by the current operational requirements of the Force.

“You are accordingly requested to kindly direct the immediate release of the concerned officers who are to collectively report to the undersigned on Wednesday, 21st April, 2021, at 1000hrs for further instructions.

“I am directed to also request that you avail this office the comprehensive nominal roll of all police personnel attached to the EFCC to include their date of transfer and designations in the Agency for the purpose of updating our records,” the memo reads in part.
