The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, has visited headquarters theater command Operation Lafiya Dole, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, making pledge of victory over terrorists’.
The COAS was visiting the troops of the Theater the fifth time since his appointment in January.
Briefing newsmen, he said the Nigerian Army will overcome the recent drawbacks experienced in some parts of the Northeast with renewed vigour and counter operations.
He said his constant visit is to keep in touch with troops and their commanders in the frontline and reinvigorate them to do more.
Attahiru said the troops are poised to subdue the terrorists’.
“In military operations ago, we have defeated Insurgents severally. If for one time they came and we lose certain equipment even though they will never defeat us, I can assure you that we will overcome notwithstanding whatever had happened. We will take on Boko Haram decisively and we are committed to the focus of the entire operation, which is their total annihilation from Nigeria”.
He later visited wounded soldiers during the recent encounter with insurgents in Mainok, Borno state where he urged them to remain resolute and committed to defending the territorial integrity of the nation.
In his speech, the Theatre Commander Operation Lafiya Dole Major General Farouq Yahaya described the visit as a moral booster and pledged to do more to ensure safety and security of people in the region.
