Insecurity: Global Peace Movement International set to mediate peace talks

As Nigeria continues to experience increasing insecurity and violence through frequent attacks by terrorists, bandits and criminal herdsmen, Global Peace Movement International UK has express its displeasure as Nigerians live in constant fear despite repeated promises by President Buhari to crush insurgencies.

President General of the group, Dr. Mike Uyi at a press briefing in London on Friday said it is high time Nigerian Government consider helping hands from the international communities of which they (Global Peace Movement International) are ready to be invited to come and help.

He said the fight against insecurity in Nigeria needs to be reviewed urgently.

“The government has invested heavily in acquiring weapons. That is clearly not enough. The acquisition of equipment has proven to be necessary but insufficient to halt the conflict and realistically defeat the insurgents. The nature of the conflict is constantly mutating, and therefore new approaches need to be considered with geo-political dimensions of the crisis in mind”.

“Efforts must be made to review and update the National Counter Terrorism Strategy and the National Security Strategy to incorporate coordinated policy conversations, regional coordination and deepen stakeholder scrutiny”.

“We at the Global Peace Movement International over the years have done our investigation across various states of the country (Nigeria) and have come to the conclusion that the use of guns cannot solve the current insecurity we are faced today. The only thing we can depend on as we speak is to find a way to engage in a round table dialogue since the whole insecurity is about ideology”.

“It is a risky job and we are ready to do that for the feature of our children and our nation”, he said.

“Let us give ourselves room to negotiate properly; we want an honest, open process, we will be transparent and honest about it. We have the capacity. Posterity will judge in feature that we offered ourselves to help but were not given the opportunity,” he said.

Uyi noted that his Organisation has a track record of peace talk with waring countries in the past and will deploy it’s professionalism to solve Nigerians crisis.

” It will interest Nigerians to know that Global Peace Movement International UK has achieved peace talks in Iraq and Yugoslavia. And will stop at nothing if officially invited to help in finding a lasting solution to the problem of insecurity among others in the country”

“Global Peace Movement International is waiting for the Federal Governments Invitation +447405976644”

Uyi appeals to those causing mayhem in South East to please leave the Zone Alone.
